NextGen

Not heirs to be prepared. Stewards to be activated.

NextGen

Not heirs to be prepared. Stewards to be activated.

NextGen is not a problem to be managed. It is a resource to be activated. The framing matters enormously — and the dominant framing in the wealth management context has been the problem framing: how do we prepare the next generation to steward what we have built? How do we instil the values we hold? How do we ensure continuity?

These questions, asked from the preservation orientation, produce programmes that the NextGen often experiences as preparation for a role designed without their input, in service of a mission they were not consulted on, within a framework established before they existed. The programmes are often high quality. They produce technically capable stewards. They do not produce the orientation — the genuine inner ownership of the stewardship function — that makes governance genuinely intergenerational rather than merely generational.

The CURANS reframe is specific. The rising generation carries capacities the founding generation often does not: comfort with complexity and uncertainty, fluency with new knowledge environments and technological possibilities, different and often more sophisticated relationships with ecological and social systems, an instinctive orientation toward interdependence rather than control. These are not deficits of experience to be filled. They are assets of formation to be integrated into the governance system.

The governance failure is not in the NextGen. It is in the frameworks that treat transmission as a one-directional process — from the generation that built to the generation that inherits — rather than as a bilateral encounter from which both generations can learn something that neither possesses alone. The founding generation holds the context, the history, the hard-won understanding of what the resources cost to build. The NextGen holds the future orientation, the sense of the world the resources will operate in, the instinct for what stewardship needs to become. Both are required. Neither is sufficient alone.

CURANS creates the conditions for this bilateral encounter: the structured spaces in which the founding generation can genuinely hear the NextGen's orientation without defensiveness, and in which the NextGen can genuinely receive the founding generation's experience without dismissal.

The connection to Intangible Heritage is direct: NextGen activation is ultimately the transmission of intangible heritage in a form the rising generation can inhabit. The connection to Relations is structural: the quality of the intergenerational relationship determines the quality of every transmission. The connection to Identity & Mission is foundational: the NextGen steward who has been supported in developing their own genuine answer to the question of what they are for is the steward most capable of carrying the family's mission forward in a form that remains alive.

The next generation is not the recipient of the family's legacy. It is the family's legacy — the living expression of everything the preceding generations have built, including what they have not yet resolved.

Legacy & Impact

Seven dimensions. One transmission.

Legacy is not what you leave. It is what continues without you.

The Operating System

Eight domains.
One coherent framework.

CURANS maps the full landscape of a steward's lifem not just their portfolio. It reduces cognitive noise at the source so decisions, relationships, and legacy can align with intention rather than pressure.

01

Anticipate

Signals are observed individually to notice misalignment before it enters collective space.

02

Stabilize

Narratives are examined to reduce noise and polarization before shared decisions are engaged.

03

Contextualize

Each family holds a unique history. Context shapes how decisions are approached and held.

04

Coordinate

Participation occurs with clarity as individuals engage collective governance responsibly.

CURANS

The operating system for stewardship. Supporting clarity, coherence, and coordination across complex governance and long-term decision contexts.
